Bodacious Guava

I haven't made anything Guava-related in aaaages, so thought I would pull it out for this cute little card. Took me far too long to decide where to put the 'for you', but I think it works!

Looking at the pic I just realised I haven't trimmed the ribbon, so best do that before I send it to anyone!

I used the wheel to create a background again. I had always put off using it because I thought it would be too busy for a background, but the stamping gods are with me today, because it just keeps working!

Faux tearing - bodacious style!

I really don't know why I waited so long to get Bodacious out for a spin, I am loving playing with it today. And in my current favourite colour combination no less!
This time I have used the jumbo wheel to create a background and used the 'faux tearing' technique.
Add some styled silver hodgepodge, and a half pearl from the pretties kit and we are good to go!

Pretty Bodacious!

In honour of September's Free Wheelin' promotion I have dusted off one of my favourite sets - Bodacious Bouqet and teamed it with the matching wheel and some pieces from the Pretties Kit.
I rock 'n' rolled the two flower images to add a bit more depth to them.
Remember, from tomorrow when you order Bodacious Bouquet, you receive the matching wheel free!
Look out for more bodacious creations soon...

Voila! Meet the man in my life...

Chef!
I know so many of you have looked at the set 'Voila!' and wondered who on earth would buy it? What would you do with it?
I have always liked it, but didn't want to buy yet another set 'just because', so I spied this set at Lesley's house, and just had to borrow it!
Being that I am so obsessed with Christmas cards right now, my thoughts turned to how I can make this man Christmassy, and interesting. Isn't that what all us single gals want? A man who loves the holidays and is charming and interesting?
Here is my new man 'au natural'. He isn't really blue in real life, he is stamped in black on whisper white.
Maybe he is a little blue because he looks so boring!
Here is chef number 2. I watercoloured him using Watercolour Wonder Crayons. He looks a little more fun now, but I still don't know what I would do with him!

Which brings me to chef number 3!
Chef #3 needed some dressing up, so I have paper pieced him to give him colour, texture and depth.
I then added some watercolouring to finish the design.
Don't we all want a man who cooks, and brings us wine?
For more info on paper piecing, check out Beate's tutorial over at Splitcoast.

To win a sheet of images of my new man, leave me a comment with a christmas message that would match the Chef.
It can be original, a quote, anything that would be suitable to join him on a Christmas card
Entries close in 7 days, and will be chosen by me. It is not random, I'll choose the one I like the best!

Concertina Card

I made this card yesterday for my downline and friend Kendall. It was her birthday recently, and I thought I would make something just a little different.
Don't ask me where I got the inspiration for the colour combination! I used so saffron, soft sky, purely pomegranate, regal rose, so saffron and wild wasabi on river rock cardstock.
And of course, Garden Whimsy :)

You guessed it...MORE christmas cards!

As you can see Solemn Stillness is still getting a workout!
For the panel I used versamark resist to create a patterned paper look. Just stamp your image using versamark onto gloss cardstock, and sponge desired colour over the top. Super easy and always looks lovely.

I finally caved and bought Loads of Love. It has only taken three catalogues for me to do it lol

I CASEd this card from the IB & C. I couldn't decide which paper to show you, so I took a pic of them all.

I used a technique called paper piecing. Stamp image onto cardstock, and stamp again onto DP and then cut out and glue onto cardstock.

250 Christmas cards for charity, and still going...

Thank goodness the Boho Blossoms punch 'matches' the One of a Kind stamp set - can you imagine if she had of cut out ALL those flowers?
This from Kendall.
I adore this set (Bloomin' With Beauty) and am in love with the wide satin Purely Pomegranate ribbon. It is too nice to even CASE!

Another project from Nita

I had some crafty friends round yesterday for our Thursday stamping session.

Nita made this gorgeous canvas for her dad for his birthday. I feel okay announcing that, the chances that he would visit my blog are little to none!!
I only managed to snap one pic before she left, so no close ups.
I can tell you that the canvas involved alot of blue and gold paint!! Also some rub-ons and chipboard which we painted with gold paint.

Catching up on prizes - and win another one!

So, some of my clues for the birthday hunt were so cryptic, that even I can't find them!

I was keeping a running list until I got to number 21.

I have spent awhile looking, but have to get started with my day, so I thought I'd put it out to you...

Find the prizes (and the winners) of giveaways number 21, 22, 23 and 24 and win a sample of the pretties kit. Only catch is, you have to live in Australia, and you have to find them before I do! Also, you must find all of them to be the winner of the pretties samples.

Errr...good afternoon!

Hello dear readers and crafters,

Apologies for being so late with the giveaway this week. I have just gotten home after spending a night out on the tiles with some girlfriends in belated celebration of my birthday.

I did make it home at some early hour, but then dashed off again about half seven to take one of my girlfriends to collect her boys who were being minded by our other friend's husband (confused yet?!)

Anyhow, I am here now, and can tell you that today's giveaway is a sample of christmas images from the stamp set 'season of joy' which you can find in the spring mini catalogue.

Usual rules apply, first five australian residents who are not already part of the SU! family are eligible. Leave me a comment with a birthday story of your own!

More later (perhaps after a nap lol)

Christmas in...August?!

Time to start those christmas cards!
This year I am working on making 100 cards for the haemophilia foundation. A fellow demonstrator Marelle Taylor co-ordinates the collection and last year she managed to collect and/or make around 800 cards, raising $2000 for the foundation. A HUGE effort!
Here is the first two, of what I hope will be many. I will be making multiples of the same design as they are split up and sold in multi-packs. Being that they don't have to be fully SU! products, my cuttlebug finally got a look-in. I used it to emboss the background on the first card, and to emboss the vellum strip on the second. The second card was CASEd from splitcoast stampers, I am not sure of the actual designer though (sorry!)

The stamp set is Solemn Stillness. Not a new SU! set, but new to me as I have put off buying it for so long! I don't know why I waited, it stamps beautifully and is so versatile. I have heaps of ideas for it, just need time to put them all into practice!

Welcome baby Lane!

(Lauri, if you are on the net tonight - DON'T LOOK!!)

A friend of mine recently had a baby boy and I am finally going to see him tomorrow for cuddles!

Of course, I had to add my own 'crafty touch' to the gift, and I had such fun making toppers for the cutest little clothes and have blue paint pretty much everywhere lol

Included is a teddy bear picture frame, some bodysuits, a cup, some pumpkin preventers and a memory tin.

I used the Crew Kids simply Scrapping Kit for boys to embellish the tin (and a scallop that was cut from nestabilities, but Sshh!) and the milestone cards. The tin is an empty accents and elements tin, just the right size!

Whilst I wittled the day away making this, I also had my crafty friend Nita over, and here is her latest creation. I couldn't decide which picture was better, so here are both!

It is actually a box, but I didn't think to take a photo of it that way until after she took it home! The box is painted, and the top is embellished as pictured. The butterflies are made by stamping the images and then covering them in a thick layer of crystal effects to make them more 3D. The top butterfly is hiding an 'A' - we fixed that after the pic.

My new craft room got a workout today. If you are on the Gold Coast, or visiting, drop me a line and come by and join in the fun!

INKlings Away!

This weekend just past I had the joy of attending an INKlings retreat organised by our esteemed leader, Jayne Mercer. I know so many of you are familiar with her work, and I was lucky enough to watch her, along with 20 or so other demonstrators create in real time.

Retreat was far too much fun, though I was the piker who went to bed early both nights lol

I still managed to get some cards made, which you can see in the slideshow below.

ETA: Slideshow was taking too long to load - click here instead.

If you want to join us next year, then why not join my team? We welcome everyone, from hobbysists to business gurus, and there are 9 more days to take advantage of the discount on the starter kit. As an INKspiring Stamper (as my girls are known) you have access to all the team forums, ideas and swaps as well as many other benefits. You will be invited to all retreats organised by not only myself, but those in my upline and will also be able to attend Stampin' Up! sponsored events and meet Shelli and the team 'in real life' (she gives the best hugs!). Not to mention you'll get out of bed knowing you are part of something that is fun, exciting, and filled with heart.

Email me to find out more!

Greetings from Robyn A

I received this card from loyal blog reader Robyn A last week.
Thanks so much darl, I LOVE it! The saying is so true, and I definately look like the girl in the stamp *wink*. Love the edging and the glitter, and you've given me some ideas for the cuttlebug folder, I have it too!

Hello from Sydneytown!

Hi all,

Sorry I have been neglecting my blog duties over the last several hours, I have been in the midst of birthday celebrations and then in transit from the sunny Gold Coast to the not-so-sunny Sydney. I am so excited to be here, and SO glad I stocked up on jumpers! I realised that I had forgotten the last 3 giveaways in the excitement of it all, and I am surprised none of you jumped on and let me know lol

Anyhow, don't despair, I am going to make some fabulous creations this crafty weekend and then do some spot giveaways as soon as I can get back to the computer.

Special Sunday may or may not show up on Sunday, depending on if the scheduling works. Hope it does!

Hope you are all being wonderfully crafty whilst I am away, and I look forward to 'seeing' you all when I am next at the computer.
